Mountain History and Culture Group

We are a 501c(3) non-profit support group for the Vance Birthplace State Historic Site. Our mission is to aid the site in a broad narrative about life on an early 1800s plantation in western NC. Funds raised support educational programs, exhibits, and events. Visit the site, where interpretive guides discuss the eighteen enslaved people that lived and worked on the Vance farm. Tours last 45 minutes and begin at 11:00, 1:00, and 3:00. Explore the exhibit on Zebulon Vance’s career in the visitor center and learn more about his time as governor and a U.S. senator. Admission is free. $2 donations for guided tours are encouraged.
